Good song

Nice, very emotional lead. I liked the trancy arpegiator you used to pack it up. The drums were simplistic and yet they fit the song nicely. The song has a really nice beat once all of the tracks come in.

tnx man for your review

Sweet drums

I hardly ever hear drum and bass that sounds like drum and bass. It was nice to hear this song, one that does it right :D Very good clean drums. I liked how you had a main drum layer and a light, phased out one behind it. The song is very good. The drum beats are well composed and original, using very good samples.

Although this isn't my favorite style of music, I'm giving you all 10s because it is so well executed.

Nice trancy feel :D

The song comes in a bit too solid right at the beginning for my tastes, but afterwards it's pretty nice. This song has a good trance feel to it. I like the leads in it, very classic trance style. The lead is smooth and not obtrusive. It is certainly hard to make a good trance lead ^_^ I like the slow, thoughtful part. It was a nice change that keeps things fresh :D

My only real complaint would be that it could be cleaned up just a little so you can hear the individual voices more clearly.

SolusLunes responds:

Yeah, this is the result of only four hours of work- there hasn't been any mastering put into it, so it's still pretty messy.

Nice

I like the intro to this, very classic trance style. This song certainly meets my standards for what a trance song should be ^_^ I liked the chord progression once it was fully developed, quite nice.

Nice lead instruments, it was arranged well. Good choice of drums.

You can check out some of my stuff if you want ^^

DJ-DaVinster responds:

Thanks for the review!

I'll try & check your stuff soon.

10/10 yay

I'm an idiot I reviewed sparse on Into the blue 2 by accident. Now I have to review into the blue 2 here! (doh) Sorry :P

heres my review for into the blue 2:

Hey, I recognize that sytrus preset! I love the first countermelody, although it could be louder. It sounds really awesome, sort of Irish (or one of those European countries). It's great after the bass comes in as well. I'm not a huge fan of your arranging and instrument choices, but you're amazing at chords. I'm very mediocre at writing melodies and chords, but you write very captivating sounds.

One part a little past halfway the chord spontaneously changes without any kind of lead in or bridge. Not so hot about that.

This song has the honor of me putting it in my playlist ^_^

johnfn responds:

Haha, thanks a lot for the reviews! The countermelody as you call it was my favorite part, which is really why I have it just play out that melody and the base for so long. And yeah I don't make any of my own instruments, well, yet. I'm kinda lazy XD

There was a little bit of a kick drum roll lead in before the chord switch, but I forgot to realize that the kick was totally hidden by the base... oops.

Thanks for the review!

Interesting

I like the pulsing in the beginning and in the background later on. It sets a good mood for the rest of the song. The lead was a little bit piercing at times.

It's not a song that I would usually listen to, but as stated by you before in the previous review, it fits the theme well.

johnfn responds:

Haha I have to admit I didn't really expect to get any reviews on this song, so thanks. The pulsing was just a really low kick I believe, I used a total of about 3 instruments in the whole song (synth, kick, snare)

Piercing, hmm, I'll watch out for that in the future.

It's kinda ironic that this currently has my highest score. Haha.

Good

Nice chord progression at the beginning. I thought it was going somewhere really boring, but then it went up somewhere else. It's refreshing to hear some originality. The first lead instrument is nice, it sticks out without breaking the mood of the song. The second lead instrument seems a little sketchy at first, but once you double it up with the first it sounds nice.

Could've written an ending though :S

johnfn responds:

Thanks for the review. I try to be original.. ;) I could NOT find a good instrument for the second lead. I tried like 20 different things.

And yea I don't really have an excuse about the ending. It was sort of an inspired thing at the beginning, and then I ran out of inspiration. :P

Nice

It opens up very well, but it kicks in really slow. I like the beat a lot, and the lead and the instruments. The clarity is really amazing in this song. Normally I'd hope for a big climax, but this was kind of refreshing in itself with the subtle variation.

The only part I didn't like, towards the beginning was when one of the synths came in and it sounded just a little corny.

Ouch

Okay first thing, master your tracks. This was peaky and very distorted. Just turn the main volume down for a quick fix and use less instruments all within the same pitch range.

Also, the remix could have been more interesting. No offense, but I'd rather listen to the orchestral version. There's also a part of the song where you emphasize the counter melody instead of the actual melody.

Exodeity responds:

Thanks for your review, ill do better next time, also, its supposed to sound a bit distorted and odd, it's how it was made.

Yay good execution!

Usually when people try making classical music they change the root chord too fast, making it feel like the song has no form. Kinda like in the beggining of 'while heaven burns' (no offense! :0). But this song was good. The chord changes were subtle and blended in the background, seperate from the lead, and they also aligned with a slower root chord progression. It was good ^_^

Also the part with the really fast plucking instrument was kind of neat.

MaestroSegments responds:

I like the fast plucking instrument as well. Tremelo Mandalin it is called, and I've lost it :(. I'm trying to find it again, it was a great instrument in my opinion.

Thanks for the review AlexanderZero, no offense taken of course ^^.

Check out my audio portal page! My account used to be poo_on_you, but I thought it was time for a refreshing change. Plus, my music is a lot better now.
